A return to the blog

Well then... a long time since posting, but what can I say. I've been chasing veeries in New York, pileated woodpeckers in Arkansas, nest searching in Wyoming and banding birds in Missouri. Did I mention that I've cofounded a bird observatory? www.mrbo.org.
The main impetus for writing this post is the inspiration I have from Aldo Leopold. His amazing attention to detail in chronicling floral and faunal observations led to not only perspectives in ecology and philosophy, but provided pertinent data in light of climate change. It would be a good exercise for all to take note of what birds are singing and arriving and when they are doing so. We could all benefit from keeping track of when things bloom in our own backyards.
